There is no better way to learn about the different versions of Portal 2 than by playing them. Here is a list of all the versions available and where they can be found. Portal 2 (PC) The first release of Portal 2 was released on April 19, 2011. This version will be free to download and was rated as the best PC game of 2011 by IGN. The hardest single player mode is "Hardcore", which can be unlocked after you beat the game once. If you're looking for a different experience, there is also a mod called Source Multiplayer which lets players travel back through time and experience what it would have been like if they had met earlier in the story. Portal 2: Demo (PC) The demo has all of the features that are found in the full game while only lasting about an hour long. There is a single player mode, but it is limited to 15 minutes and doesn't include any of the extra downloadable content. Portal 2: Production Line (PC) This demo has all of the same features as the full game, except that it only lasts about six hours long. It was released on February 10, 2012 and can be downloaded from Steam by signing into your Steam account or by using Uplay on Origin. The demo is also included on disc with all copies of Portal 2: Ultimate Edition and on shelves with all retail versions of Portal 2. Portal 2: Peer Review (PC) The Peer Review demo is the only demo that has been released on consoles. This demo can be downloaded on Xbox Live or PlayStation Network depending on which console you own. Portal 2 was launched on April 19, 2011. It is the only version of Portal 2 with a single player mode, but it has limited play time of 30 minutes Portal Stories: Mel (iOS) The iOS version of Portal Stories was released on February 12, 2013 for free. The game lets players control Mel as she explores puzzles inside Aperture Science with the help of GlaDOS. Portal Stories: Mel (PC) The PC version of Portal Stories was released on April 24, 2013 for $9.99. The game lets players control Mel as she explores puzzles inside Aperture Science with the help of GlaDOS. This version includes additional content and a level editor so that users can create and share their own games. Portal Stories: VR (PC) The VR version of Portal Stories was released on February 14, 2017 for $15.00 USD.
